Ministry 101 – Your confidence

God, Ministry, Jesus, Bible, Power, Holy SpiritHave you ever wondered when or how you can ever feel “You are enough” and confident about it? No matter how many times you’ve practiced, you think you didn’t do enough. No matter how many schools or classes you’ve taken, you haven’t learned enough. Do you ever feel confident doing your ministry?

It is funny to think that Moses felt the same way you and I sometimes think when God chose to use him in a mighty miracle. He thought he couldn’t speak well, or people won’t listen to his leadership. But Moses had the highest education as a son of Pharaoh. He could be confident more than anybody.

Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action. – Acts 7:22 NIV

Moses had what to take and was a powerful and influential speaker. He could be confident in any task he was appointed to do. But it seems like all the education he had and the confidence he felt were different things.

Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” – Exodus 4:10 NIV

How about you? Do you use excuses before God for not following His call? Confidence doesn’t mean that you need to be prideful or know-it-all. It doesn’t mean you have figured out everything or don’t need any help. But it will search your heart for where you place your reliance is.

Confidence: full trust, belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing

You might trust yourself or all the education and training you have in your life to do something in your life. But in ministry, doing the God-sized things, you need God-sized confidence. That means no matter how you are educated, you can’t rely on those things, but only on to whom trustworthy and empowers you to do what you have chosen to do.

God-sized things need God-sized confidence.

Why can you be confident with God?

1. He is with you

So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10 NIV

You are doing the ministry that God called you, but not by yourself! God is your present help in time of need. He is with you and won’t leave you alone. That’s His promise!

2. You are enough WITH God

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. – 2 Corinthians 3:5 NIV

God helps those who are humble. No matter how you are educated, you’ll always feel not enough to rely on your own understanding or strength. Even if you don’t have enough to prove for you have what to take, you are enough WITH the power of God.

3. You are loved!

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. – 1 John 4:18 NIV

You can be confident because God loves you. He is not surprised by your fear of making a mistake. God is bigger than your eloquence. Let Hid power and love cover you!
