Ministry 101 – Taking a Risk

In ministry, whatever you are called to do requires you to take a risk. God leads you to accomplish the calling that you were made for. But He’ll never tell you from step 1 to step 10. I’m sure you wish He did. But if He did, it won’t take your faith or obedience. At the same time, you listen to the Holy Spirit with your limited human ears and comprehension. You won’t be 100% sure you’ve heard Him right. It doesn’t mean that you doubt that God has spoken to you. You are just not sure if you can listen to Him right for 100%.

Taking a step of faith is risky.

Mary, Christ, God, Christmas, Bible,Have you ever considered how much risk that Mary, the mother of Jesus, took? What came across her mind when the angel came to her and told her what is about to happen? You and I read the Christmas story year after year as good news to the world. But when you think about what Mary really had to deal with in her life, it was risky.

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” – Luke 1:34 NIV

Ministry 101 – Be available for a miracle

Jesus, Christmas, God, Angel, Bible, Faith, MinistryThere are two different kinds of Christ’s followers in this world. One is satisfied to know that they have a promise for eternity security in heaven. And the other one is want to use their lives to impact the world in Christ’s name. Do you want to accomplish something great with your life? Do you know what the difference between those two groups is?

Availability.

God performs miracles in our lives. But often, He uses us to be a part of His work. God might use someone without his knowledge for a miraculous work. But that person has no idea if he experienced the power of God. There’s a way for you to experience God’s mighty work. That is – Be available for a miracle that God wants to perform through your life!

Are you available for God to accomplish His Kingdom work? Continue reading “Ministry 101 – Be available for a miracle”

Ministry 101 – Don’t lower your standard

Have you ever thought you might feel good if you could say things or act out in the way some people do to react to their frustration? Of course, you have. But you know the Holy Spirit who lives in you won’t permit you to do that. Instead, He gives you and helps you to have self-control. The challenge for you is whether you obey that nudge or go ahead and let your flesh takes over your mind and emotion.

Ministry, God, Jesus, Battle, ArmorEvery Christ-follower is experiencing that struggle right now. It is twice much harder when you are in ministry. We are all human, and you’ll have the moments when you feel like you want to say exactly what’s in your mind and get done with it. But you know you can’t. Ministry 101 – Sink or swim

Faith, God, Jesus, Bible, MinistryLiving by faith is more challenging than talking about it sometimes. Faith isn’t a fuzzy feeling to live through every day. But it takes your action to jump into the things that you don’t know the outcome. It’s a “sink or swim” decision. The bible says,

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. – James 2:14-26 NIV

Ministry 101 – Your confidence

God, Ministry, Jesus, Bible, Power, Holy SpiritHave you ever wondered when or how you can ever feel “You are enough” and confident about it? No matter how many times you’ve practiced, you think you didn’t do enough. No matter how many schools or classes you’ve taken, you haven’t learned enough. Do you ever feel confident doing your ministry?

It is funny to think that Moses felt the same way you and I sometimes think when God chose to use him in a mighty miracle. He thought he couldn’t speak well, or people won’t listen to his leadership. But Moses had the highest education as a son of Pharaoh. He could be confident more than anybody. Continue reading “Ministry 101 – Your confidence”

Which side are you fighting from?

Battle, Trouble, Struggle, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, BibleHave you wondered why you still have so many battles in your life even though you serve God faithfully? Did you think your life struggle was over when you gave your life to Christ? Did you think your sickness be gone, and your heartaches will mend? Why are you continually have troubles in life? Are these troubles ever end?

Everyone wishes the same. Nobody likes life issues and heartaches. The fact is God never promised that you wouldn’t have any problem. You don’t like uncomfortable, pains, and ongoing struggles. It’s understandable wishful thinking. What the bible says is quite the opposite. Continue reading “Which side are you fighting from?”

Get rid of the complaining spirit!

Complain, God, Jesus, Bible, Life, Holy SpiritAre you a complainer? Even if you aren’t, it’s not natural to you. The complaining spirit has embedded in the human soul since the sin came into humanity. You don’t have to practice to be a complainer because you were born with it. You could be complaining about anything from too cold, too hot, too little, too much, too loud, too quiet. You’ll never be satisfied if you don’t learn to be thankful.

Do you know God hates the complaining spirit? It bothers Him every word you complain. He was greatly displeased when the Israelites complained. Continue reading “Get rid of the complaining spirit!”

Ministry 101 – School of the Holy Spirit

Ministry, Life, Jesus, Holy Spirit, God, bible, SchoolAre you confident enough doing your ministry by educations and training you had? Or did you even have any schooling? It’s always a question of whether you need schooling or don’t to make your ministry successful. In the secular world, your history of education has ever questioned for finding a job or promotion. People will assume your quality of life and your being by looking at the list of education history. But God’s Kingdom principle is so much different than what the world expects. The bible says,

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. – Acts 4:13 NIV

Do you hear it?

Do you know how to hear the voice of God?

Do you hear it by your physical ears?

How do you know that was His voice?

If you don’t know how to answer those questions, you might have irritated by some believers’ comments by saying, “This morning God told me…” or “I sensed God is telling me…” The Bible says,

God, Jesus, Bible, Faith, Holy SpiritMy sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. – John 10:27 ESV

Knowing someone’s voice requires a relationship. It’s not the relationship that you know who that person is, but a close relationship that’s close enough to heart the person’s voice. As your baby knows your voice, or your dog knows your voice differ from others, you would learn and understand your master’s voice. Continue reading “Do you hear it?”

Encouragement, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Bible, Ministry, LifeHave you noticed that the more you carry a more significant responsibility in the Kingdom, you lose more people to pat on your back? We all need encouragement sometimes. But the more you become a leader of some sort, and then you encourage others more than you receive. You are the one to feed others with encouragement. How about your needs?

As a leader, you must learn and find a way of feeding yourself encouragement.

It’ll be nice if you could find at least one close friend that always there for you when you need to be encouraged. But it’s not always promised. Sometimes God removes all those types of your people from your life. Why? Continue reading “Ministry 101 – Feeding yourself encouragement”
