Time to change the direction!

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Practice makes it perfect?” Well, there might be some truth in it, but it’s not all the way accurate. The truth is the right practice makes it perfect. If the method isn’t the right way, it’ll never lead you to have an ideal result.

Bible, God, Mountain, Moses, Direction, LifeThat’s what Israelites were doing in the wilderness. They wrapped around the same mountains for 40 years! If you were a part of that group, do you feel like that’s more than long enough? The journey that they were on was supposed to take only 11 days. How did that happen? Was there anybody who thought they were doing the same thing and on the same path every day? If you experience the same thing every day, you might want to stop and think. But it went on for 40 years. God spoke through Moses, Continue reading “Time to change the direction!”

Ministry 101 – Taking a Risk

In ministry, whatever you are called to do requires you to take a risk. God leads you to accomplish the calling that you were made for. But He’ll never tell you from step 1 to step 10. I’m sure you wish He did. But if He did, it won’t take your faith or obedience. At the same time, you listen to the Holy Spirit with your limited human ears and comprehension. You won’t be 100% sure you’ve heard Him right. It doesn’t mean that you doubt that God has spoken to you. You are just not sure if you can listen to Him right for 100%.

Taking a step of faith is risky.

Mary, Christ, God, Christmas, Bible,Have you ever considered how much risk that Mary, the mother of Jesus, took? What came across her mind when the angel came to her and told her what is about to happen? You and I read the Christmas story year after year as good news to the world. But when you think about what Mary really had to deal with in her life, it was risky.

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” – Luke 1:34 NIV

Ministry 101 – Be available for a miracle

Jesus, Christmas, God, Angel, Bible, Faith, MinistryThere are two different kinds of Christ’s followers in this world. One is satisfied to know that they have a promise for eternity security in heaven. And the other one is want to use their lives to impact the world in Christ’s name. Do you want to accomplish something great with your life? Do you know what the difference between those two groups is?

Availability.

God performs miracles in our lives. But often, He uses us to be a part of His work. God might use someone without his knowledge for a miraculous work. But that person has no idea if he experienced the power of God. There’s a way for you to experience God’s mighty work. That is – Be available for a miracle that God wants to perform through your life!

Are you available for God to accomplish His Kingdom work? Continue reading “Ministry 101 – Be available for a miracle”

Are you the one?

God, Jesus, Bible, Ministry, FaithDo you believe there’s only one to take to change the world around you or a culture? Are you the one? Or do you want to be the one? Many people want to be a Superhero or a Wonderwoman. But it doesn’t mean that other people or the world will know your name. Yet, sometimes, it takes only one person to turn around someone else’s life. If you are the one, your name may not have known by others but God. And you are that Superhero!

Timothy’s mother was that Wonderwoman. You don’t know her name. But she changed the culture of her family and still changing ours. Continue reading “Are you the one?”

Ministry 101 – Gift of recognition

God, Jesus, Ministry, Thankful, BibleBeing thankful takes some practice. Being grateful for the things you have in life can be easily found if you pay closer attention. But you sometimes forget the people that God has placed in your life. You can’t do your ministry by yourself. You’ll always have people that give their hands and time to help out.

Have you ever got frustrated about not being appreciated by others for what you do? Of course, you are working for the Lord, and that’s all the matter in the end. But it’s nice to be recognized for your excellent work once in a while. Everyone should receive a gift of recognition sometimes. Continue reading “Ministry 101 – Gift of recognition”

Ministry 101 – Don’t lower your standard

Have you ever thought you might feel good if you could say things or act out in the way some people do to react to their frustration? Of course, you have. But you know the Holy Spirit who lives in you won’t permit you to do that. Instead, He gives you and helps you to have self-control. The challenge for you is whether you obey that nudge or go ahead and let your flesh takes over your mind and emotion.

Ministry, God, Jesus, Battle, ArmorEvery Christ-follower is experiencing that struggle right now. It is twice much harder when you are in ministry. We are all human, and you’ll have the moments when you feel like you want to say exactly what’s in your mind and get done with it. But you know you can’t. Feel shaken?

Jesus, God, Bible, Election, World, CitizenshipThere’s not even one person on the earth that is not feeling uncertain today. Do you worry about tomorrow or the future? Do you feel shaken by the chaos in the world? Do you have a hard time finding the ground you can stand on?

Even though you hope to see the second coming of Jesus, it’s not comfortable to live through the troubled time. But it’s impossible to see that glorious day without experiencing the chaos as the bible says. So if the chaos of this world is something that you need to live through, how can you survive it? Your expectation of blessings

When you hear the word “Blessings,” what comes to your mind? It could be good health, more than enough money, good behaving children and grandchildren, plenty of food, a lovely house, excellent business or job, and all the happiness you can think of in life.

Blessings, God, Jesus, Bible, LifeBut you know there’s a difference between your expectation of blessings and God’s way of blessings? His way of blessings doesn’t always look like blessings in times, although they will be in the end when you finally see it. It’s confusing, especially when you know what God has promised you, but what you see with your eyes is different. Continue reading “Your expectation of blessings”

Ministry 101 – Sink or swim

Faith, God, Jesus, Bible, MinistryLiving by faith is more challenging than talking about it sometimes. Faith isn’t a fuzzy feeling to live through every day. But it takes your action to jump into the things that you don’t know the outcome. It’s a “sink or swim” decision. The bible says,

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. – James 2:14-26 NIV

Ministry 101 – Your confidence

God, Ministry, Jesus, Bible, Power, Holy SpiritHave you ever wondered when or how you can ever feel “You are enough” and confident about it? No matter how many times you’ve practiced, you think you didn’t do enough. No matter how many schools or classes you’ve taken, you haven’t learned enough. Do you ever feel confident doing your ministry?

It is funny to think that Moses felt the same way you and I sometimes think when God chose to use him in a mighty miracle. He thought he couldn’t speak well, or people won’t listen to his leadership. But Moses had the highest education as a son of Pharaoh. He could be confident more than anybody. Continue reading “Ministry 101 – Your confidence”
